DSLR RECORD TIME LIMITATION Most DSLRs have a record time limit due to a maximum file size of 4GB.  This is a restriction of the memory card file format.  The maximum length of recording time is dependant on the record file selection, but can be as low as 12 minutes.  Lower resolution and more compressed options will extend recording time. Another issue with DSLR video recording is overheating of the camera electronics that occurs when recording high data rate video for extended periods.  This limitation is not well documented and should be of great concern when the ambient temperature is hot.  The Panasonic LUMIX GH series cameras do not have this limitation.
