TIME CODE Timecode is a form of media metadata that is added to video and audio. These codes provide a per frame time reference for editing, synchronization and identification.  SMPTE timecode is a standard created by and managed by the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers.  Camcorders with SMPTE timecode input output are required for live broadcast and frequently required for multi-camera productions.  Timecode greatly simplifies clip synchronization in post production. DSLRs do not offer timecode input or output.  There are post production synchronization techniques including the software PluralEyes or DualEyes from Singular Software Company.
